Jim Schmid
Jim is originally from New York State where he graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelors degree in Economics. After returning to school to study turf, Jim moved to the desert in 2006 to take a job at PGA West. Jim directed the preparations of the Palmer Course at PGA West for the Bob Hope Classic from 2009-2011 before arriving at The Lakes. He lives in Palm Desert with his family and has been active in the industry and community teaching golf course management classes at the College of the Desert for the past three years. Jim is involved in several industry groups; sitting on the board of the HiLo Desert Golf Course Superintendents Association, is a member of the Coachella Valley Golf and Water Task Force and is a part of the SCGA volunteer program.
 
Facilties Manager
Angel Gonzalez
Angel is originally from the Imperial Valley. He moved to the Desert in 2001, where he began his 14 years of experience working for Sun City Palm Desert Community Association. He worked for the Golf Course maintenance department holding various positions over the years. He became the supervisor for the Landscape Maintenance department for a few years. He then transferred to Facilities Maintenance as an Assistant Director. In 2015, he joined The Lakes Country Club Team as an Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager. After a year of service, he moved into the Facilities Maintenance Manager position. Angel resides in the Coachella Valley with his wife and three sons. In his spare time he volunteers as a Regional Commissioner for AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) where his kids play soccer.
 
Golf Course Superintendent
Craig Howard
Craig Howard grew up in Nevada City California and moved to the desert 14 years ago. He quickly fell in love with the game of golf and started working in the golf industry. In 2005, he started at Mountain View Country Club and after six years as outside service supervisor, he knew it was time for a change. He then started on his path to become a superintendent as an irrigator all while going back to college to get his degree in Turf Grass Management. After obtaining his degree, he was quickly made Assistant Superintendent at Mountain View Country Club. In November 2015, he began his career here at The Lakes as an Assistant Superintendent. He is currently involved in the HiLo Desert Golf Course Superintendents Association and is returning to college to learn Spanish. He lives in Indio with his wife and three sons.
 
Lead Engineer
Albert Armstrong
Albert is a native of the Coachella valley. Although raised in Riverside CA, he always kept close ties to the desert visiting the valley to help in his father’s AC & Heating company. He learned the business at a young age and by the age of 18, he moved to the desert full time to help run the family business . After 10 years of successfully completing many large commercial projects, he landed a contract with Southern California Edison. Albert was responsible for the HVAC division of the SCE energy efficiency program, installing high efficient AC's for low income families across Southern California. In 2009, he took an offer from Sun City of Palm Desert as a Senior HVAC technician. Albert joined The Lakes in March of 2011 as the HVAC and refrigeration technician. In May of 2016, he was promoted to Lead Engineer. Albert resides in Indio with his wife and two sons. He spends his spare time taking family trips and coaching his boys in soccer and football.
 
Assistant Superintendent
Jesse Grijalva
Jesse has been with The Lakes since 1991 starting a as landscape gardener then promoted to Spray Technician. He is from Imperial Valley and attended Imperial Valley College. He later went back to College of the Desert to work his degree and was then promoted to Assistant Superintendent. Many Lakes' Members know Jesse best thanks to Sun our first goose dog and then later, Peak. He enjoys spending time with his three grown children, two grandchildren, bowing and golfing.
 
Administrative Assistant
Brenda Lugo, Notary Public
Brenda's career began with The Lakes Country Club back in 1995. She started as a Food Server in the Santa Fe Grill as well as the Mountain View Dining Room. Brenda went on to become the Secretary of Food & Beverage, Dining Room Manager and Santa Fe Grill Manager. In 2006, an opportunity arose in the Facilities Maintenance Department and she made her transition as the Facilities Office Manager. Brenda has assisted Members with their architectural remodels and is also the secretary for the Architectural/Facilities Maintenance/Landscape Committee. Brenda is available to assist with questions concerning landscaping, lighting, remodels, retroscapes and any other areas for the association common areas.
